What did you enjoy or appreciate most about my approach?
The kindness, humor, warmth and the unconditional positive regard were so valuable in reducing the shame I felt and made me feel so safe to be honest. I very much appreciate your straightforward, practical approach and the utmost dedication you give.
I also love that you are so real, no bullshit, just you sharing the parts of your experience that could help me. You go above and beyond offering daily check-ins, helping to access resources, connecting me to other sober people. Even as I’ve struggled, you’ve never given up your hope for me and that has helped me to keep mine.
What have your biggest shifts been?
Believing that I can have a good life as a sober person and that it is actually a better life
What was the most helpful piece/take away you received from one-on-one coaching?
What I will take away with me is that life is better sober and that I am fully capable of having a life I love.

What would you tell prospective clients who are considering coaching with me?
Go for it. It has been really helpful to explore specific reasons behind my drinking, to look at this with my husband joining a session and how it impacts our relationship and gave me the confidence to keep going.
What did you enjoy or appreciate most about my approach?
How open I could be without any judgement
What have your biggest shifts been?
That I now have the confidence to live alcohol free and to see it as a blessing and a way to be happy rather than abstinence (still a work in progress of course!)
What was the most helpful piece/take away you received from one-on-one coaching?
The homework was really useful, managing traffic light system of my friends and family and what to say and general belief in myself that I’m worthy of sobriety.

What did you enjoy or appreciate most about my approach?
I like the fact that you never told me to do anything, instead suggesting ideas for me to try if it felt right. You didn’t try to push your own recovery tools onto me, other times I’ve tried to reach out I’ve been told “do this” or “you’re not doing it right/trying hard enough” and this would make me feel like a failure before I’d even started. I appreciated how up front you were about there being no shame and so even when I slipped up I felt I could tell you without being judged. Daily contact via email was very helpful to be accountable and I appreciated that during our weekly call you were able to remember what I’d emailed about.
My biggest shifts?
Realising that I am a whole person, even with my past and daily struggles, I still have interests and taking time out for these is valid, not selfish. I feel that I can find a purpose in my life, something I haven’t felt for a very long time.
My most helpful takeaway?
Doing small things daily can make a big difference, my journey doesn’t have to be linear and I should congratulate myself on my successes.

What did you enjoy or appreciate most about my approach?
I have loved doing coaching with Mandy, from the very beginning, I have felt that she got me and believed in me. Her approach is gentle but directive in a positive way. She provided me with a lot of tools and information to stop drinking but there was no insistence that I had to do everything but to do things when I wanted to and when it felt right. There was no judgement about blips and therefore it helped my shame and allowed me to stay focused on my self care and moving forward. She is also great fun!!
My biggest shifts?
My biggest shift has to be filling something that I felt was missing in my life, creativity. With Mandy’s encouragement I have started drawing and writing again. She has also given me the great tool of jigsaw puzzles which work great to de-stress me and bring me back to the present and are now a tool in giving up smoking.
My most helpful takeaway?
The most important learning with Mandy has been self care, once I started to slow down and take care of myself, not only has my drinking stopped – my mental health has improved, my relationship with my son has improved and now I am ready to tackle other bad habits like smoking.

What did you enjoy or appreciate most about my approach?
Your honest and authentic caring. And this may sound weird but it was actually fun to talk to you. Albeit painful and difficult at times when opening up but I always felt like I was moving forward in an upward motion.
I really liked the follow ups. I felt like you were reaching out because you wanted to not because you had to. And it felt amazing having someone care about you. Especially when you’re so alone.
I really liked the content of all of the emails. I genuinely wanted to do all of the homework (even if I didn’t always do it) and learned a lot of interesting things. Thinking back I think I really liked it because it just wasn’t centred around me and my drinking problem. It was sort of like, this is all the great information out there, these are some ways you can take care of yourself, here is some science for you; it was about learning and growing and curiosity. I think that is perhaps what sets you apart.
My biggest shifts?
I went from thinking I’m a fat useless loser to having hope and drive again. I actually want to be sober. I want to create again. I haven’t cut out alcohol 100% but I am almost there. Drinking doesn’t overtake my entire mind. I go weeks without drinking. I drink less when I do drink. I am still on this journey. And I know I’m not there yet. I have a lot of work to do. I hope to continue on with Lovesober in some capacity.
My most helpful takeaway?
I am worthy of happiness, success and health! Realising that I am a whole person, even with my past and daily struggles, I still have interests and taking time out for these is valid, not selfish. I feel that I can find a purpose in my life, something I haven’t felt for a very long time. Doing small things daily can make a big difference, my journey doesn’t have to be linear and I should congratulate myself on my successes.

“To someone considering this path - this is going to change your entire perspective on what it is to be sober. It is a joy and not a chore. It is exciting and not fearful. It is self directed and not imposed on you. It is liberating and not confining. I no longer feel like recovery is a prison I have to be in, it's a freedom I have never had the opportunity to enjoy.
Coaching has opened my mind up to how positive this journey can be, It allows me to see the same things in a different light. I don't need to be told what to do, I need to understand why it makes sense and then want to do it myself.
That's HUGE in terms of building a sustainable AF path for the future. It has given me the confidence to make decisions, to let go of stuff I have always held on to, to free my mind up to focus on me while at the same time giving me so much more time to give to others.
Mandy introduced me to new language around drinking that has released me from the confines of words like addiction - so simple yet has allowed me to move forward where before that language kept me stuck.
Talking about alcohol has always been so negative until I worked with Mandy and now everything has been reframed in such a positive way that I feel enlivened after our sessions and it spurs me into even deeper commitment to the process.
Mandy is SUPER knowledgeable in the science and psychology behind alcohol related issues. The references and resources that are brought into our conversations are incredibly useful and help me to gain a better understanding not just of my relationship with alcohol but of who I really am, my values, my needs, my wants.
Overall this has been a transformative experience for me.”

“Working with Mandy over the past 6 weeks has been an amazing experience. I was going through a few changes in my life and alcohol was getting in the way of moving forward. I had previously gone through periods of abstinence then back to trying to moderate again. I made the decision I wanted to cut alcohol out of my life but recognised I needed some support. This was a first for me because I never ask for help!
I am a keen listener of Mandy's podcast Love Sober and when she mentioned she was starting to take on coaching clients I knew I had to get in contact.
Mandy was so easy to talk with, she helped me identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors which were keeping me stuck. Mandy provided excellent resources and exercises to work on in between our sessions. She was very supportive and encouraged me to contact her between sessions if I needed any extra help, she even looked over my new website!
Mandy guided me through making changes in my relationship with alcohol and also helped me build confidence and self esteem around my business. Highly recommend working with Mandy, thank you so much for all you support and guidance.”
I worked with Mandy for 6 sessions. I looked forward to each one; it was like chatting with a friend. A very wise, non-judgemental and clever one! I have had many goes around the sober roundabout, and for quite a few years. I feel I have finally nailed it with Mandy.
Her magic was very subtle - of course it was a combination of her experienced coaching and common sense, gentle approach, and also the time was right for me. I was lucky to have been guided to Mandy by the Universe. She just ‘got it’. Her coaching, community and also the book, were exactly what I needed to commit to sobriety forever.
Thank you for making me realise I had to have my own back in life to be happy - and drinking was the exact opposite of that.
Life changing stuff!
